Triangulation versus mathematical modeling
Here are some details from a classic model (triangulation) comparied with the corresponding parts in our final model (Point·Cloud·Modeling).
Notice how all corners have been projected to the abstract surface generated by mathematical
modeling. In principle, every time the position of the surface is requested, our mathematical modeling algorithm takes into account all information in the point cloud. A certain degree of smoothness without loss of details is possible implicitly because of the global representation. And this is why, in our case, face and point cloud resolution are two independent parameters.
